Friends, family, community rally to support Diane Vander Vente

Diane Vander Venter (third from left) is pictured here with daughter Shannan and grandchildren Eden and Piercen. Vander Venter is battling Stage 4 ovarian cancer.

When someone helps their community their whole life, it’s only natural that the community would come together to help that person in return.

Diane Vander Venter graduated from Pine City High School in 1976. Diane still calls Pine City home, is an active and long-standing member of her church, Our Redeemer Lutheran and, as an avid piano player, she has generously shared her talents with numerous others in the Pine City area. This includes the Pine City Heritage players, Pine City Elementary and Pine City High School musical departments, weddings, churches and many more. Diane also enjoys teaching piano, sharing her love of the instrument with a new generation of young players.

In July 2020, Diane was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer, and her family and friends are coming together on Sept. 26 from 12-5 p.m. to show their support.

There will be a fundraising spaghetti dinner from 12-3 p.m., raffle tickets for a chance to win a door prize and a silent auction from 12-4 p.m.

Others in the community are offering their support as well.  Cabin Coffees has set out a donation jar, and has offered matching donations. Lee’s Pro Shop has made t-shirts available for a donation.

For more information, check out the “Benefit for Diane Vander Venter” Facebook page or call Diane’s sister Sue Carlson at 612-578-4764.

For those who cannot attend, a GoFundMe me account has been set up in Diane’s name:
