Audrey A. Oglesbee
February 15, 1936 - October 6, 2020
Audrey Ann Oglesbee of Mora died on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at St. Clare Living Community. She was 84 years old.
Audrey was born on February 15, 1936 to Clinton and Lillian (Knobbs) Oatman in St. Cloud, Minn. She was the oldest of three. She lived in Becker until the age of five and then moved to Faribault. She graduated High School in 1953 in Faribault then went to college at St. Cloud State where she graduated in 1956 with a degree in education. She taught one year in Becker. She was married to Robert Shields in August of 1956 and moved to Columbia Heights. There she taught for another two years. Shortly after that they bought their first house in Brooklyn Park, Minn. and became a stay at home mom raising three children.
She was very involved with the United Methodist Church in Brooklyn Park where she was in the choir, the leadership board, President of the Women’s Society and Couples Club. She loved hosting parties, enjoyed baking, reading, and sitting in the sun and water. Later in life she enjoyed politics and good conversations. She loved people and had a way of always making you laugh. She held a gift of always laughing at herself and truly took with grace being the butt of many jokes. We are still laughing, thanks Mom! She loved her family and often said how thankful and blessed she has been.
Life eventually brought a new beginning, and she was remarried to Dewayne Oglesbee in July of 1971. They moved to North Minneapolis where they both were involved with Contact Twin Cities - a worldwide help/crises hotline. She worked at Dayton’s Food Court in Minneapolis and eventually became a receptionist at the largest hair salon in downtown Minneapolis. She and Dewayne both became land Realtors where some of the funniest stories began. In 1980 they built their dream log cabin home in the woods in Hinckley, Minn. By hand they put in blood, sweat and tears to make this dream a reality. The finished product was simply amazing and beautiful. Dewayne’s illness brought them to Mora in 1997 where they were one of the first occupants in Park Forest Estates. She was manager and receptionist there for many years until she retired at the age of 75. She loved the people there and enjoyed making special meals and made every event a real celebration. She was very much loved by all and will be deeply missed. She was a steadfast Christian and now will be before Him in all His Glory.
