Robert Maki

Robert John Maki (Bob), 64, of Pine City and NE Minneapolis, passed away from ALS on Friday Jan. 1, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Bob was born on Dec. 31, 1956, in Minneapolis to Reuben and Irene Maki, who instilled in him a deep love and appreciation for family. Bob graduated from Coon Rapids High School and enlisted in the Airforce, where he was stationed on a California base during the Vietnam War.

Through his first marriage, Bob welcomed his son, Paul. Later, Bob married Sara and had two more children, Bethany (Cody) Franklin and Chris Maki. Bob and Sara were married for over 20 years before divorcing, and they had great friendship for the rest of his life.

Making memories with friends and family was the most important thing to Bob. He loved sitting around the fire, dining table, or bar sharing stories and laughing. If anyone ever did something embarrassing around Bob, he didn’t let them forget it. Bob was a skilled bowler, he enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, and all kinds of card and dice games. Bob traveled as over-the-road truck driver and maintained a sense of curiosity and adventure to try new things.

Bob is survived by his son Paul, daughter Beth (Cody), son Chris, sister Cheryl (Charlie), brother Joe (Lori), nieces Lori (Nate) and Tracy, and grandson Leif.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The memorial service was held at Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel on Thursday Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.
