Missing hunter still sought

David Lee Peltier has been missing since Nov. 3, 2018.

It has been one year since David Lee Peltier went missing in the Nemadji State Forest.

Peltier had been part of a group hunting deer in the Nemadji State Forest along the Gandy Dancer Trail. Peltier did not return to the group’s cabin on the evening of Nov. 3, 2018.  He was reported missing the next day.

After receiving the report on Nov. 4, 2018 , the Pine County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by multiple agencies as well as family and friends of the missing man searched the area with no sign of him.

The Nemadji State Forest encompasses nearly 92,000 acres in both Pine and Carlton County. Over 100 volunteers, along with personnel from Minnesota DNR-conservation officers, Minnesota DNR-Forestry, North Star Search and Rescue K-9, and St. Louis County Search and  Rescue worked along with family to search by foot, ATV, swamp accessible machinery and aircraft  including drone.

When dark fell after sunset on Nov. 7, 2018, the Pine County Sheriff’s Office suspended official search efforts for the missing man. Friends and family members continued to search through the year, but were unsuccessful.

Anyone with information regarding this case or the whereabouts of David Lee Peltier is asked to call the Pine County Sheriff’s Office at 320-629-8380 or  send an email to investigators@co.pine.mn.us. Officers will continue to follow up on any new information received.
